Masbateña Educator is Grateful
Dr. Noemi Alindogan, Cagayan de Oro-based professor with roots in Ticao Island, Masbate (Dr. Medina was the Founding Chairperson of the mainly-Academe-based Lambat-Liwanag Network for Empowering Paradigms.): Thank God that a very good friend of mine, Prof. Ed Aurelio Reyes, started a peace advocacy project in my native province, Masbate.
I'm from San Fernando, Masbate but I decided to settle for good here in Mindanao as I felt so desperate and so all alone to work on a project like what Ed has just launched today. Actually, my dream for my beloved Masbate has found fulfillment at Misamis Oriental State College for Agriculture and Technology where I am presently working. It was only last Friday, July 30, when we launched with a big bang, the Gender and Peace Learning Center which I put up for the College. During the program, I presented the Vision, Mission and Goals of the Center and the activities I have scheduled for implementation for this School Year. I brought up my almost 200 books on gender and peace for our resource and research unit.
I will also be conducting regular seminars on gender and peace for the faculty and students which include the children from the Higaonon tribe.
.
Moderator: Thanks so much for your message, Dr. Noemi. Although I would have been so proud to claim having started this project, i have to clarify that I am just assisting it.
Ms. Merioles, an International Studies graduate of Miriam College in Quezon City, is a proud Masbateña. And Masbate has big reason to be very proud of her, too.

Christian: Tama!

Brave attempt… doable
Melo Acuna: It's a brave attempt to put all the killings behind but place the persons responsible before the bar of justice. That would be a great lesson for all.
Friday at 8:58pm
Moderator: You're right! But at least, let's try to unify minds and hearts about what is right and what is wrong on the peace question, and motivate all to be peace advocates.

'Great peace work!'
Rafael Pablo Molina Fernando: This is great peace work Ed!!! SHANTI.
Thursday at 4:08pm
Moderator: great peace work, and i'm proud to be part of it. Ms. Shayne started it and got me into the team. I'm asking you now to join us ACTIVELY in this effort. at least, on line. Nag-start ka na nga, eh!

This is timely. Masbate is one of the places in the Philippines that needs healing of the land. Peace initiatives, emanating love from the people, can initiate healing the land.

ReplyDeleteMay this peace camp in Masbate be the beginning of more efforts to spread a deep and comprehensive understanding of peace. We try to do the same in our own Barangay Canlubang. Let us work together for a new generation of peace advocates.
